first of all, you have to find the perfect color for your skin type.

if your skin is very white you would have to choose a more neutral red. like this one from Clarins. If your skin is normal white a more deeper red can be good, like this fine lipstick from Revlon. If you have a brown glow in your skin a more bright red would be good like this one from Loréal. 

If you have black skin a darker red would be best like this great lipstick, also from Loréal. 

Outfit

After that you would have to choose a outfit that goes with the red lips. Don't do bright colors as yellow, green, pink and purple. It doesn't go well with the red color. Do colors as white, black, dark blue and grey. 

Makeup 

Makeup that fits with the red lips is a natural makeup. Keep the attention on the lips. Dark eyes or red cheeks is a no go, if you both have attention on the eyes and the lips you would end up looking like a drag queen honey!
